Privacy Policy — You Fish Scotland

Welcome to You Fish Scotland (“we”, “our”, “us”).
By booking an experience, purchasing a voucher, or using our website youfishscotland.com, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
Please read this information carefully as it forms a legally binding agreement between you and You Fish Scotland.

2. Definitions

  • “Client”, “you”, “your”: The person booking or participating in any service.

  • “Service(s)”: Guided fishing trips, fly-fishing lessons, workshops, gift vouchers, equipment hire, transportation, or any activity provided by You Fish Scotland.

  • “Guide”: Any authorised guide employed or contracted by You Fish Scotland.

3. Booking & Payment

3.1 All bookings are subject to availability.
3.2 A deposit may be required to secure your booking.
3.3 Full payment must be made before the experience begins unless otherwise agreed.
3.4 Prices listed on our website or via email/quotation may change without notice, but confirmed bookings are honoured at the agreed rate.
3.5 Payments are accepted via bank transfer, card, or approved third-party payment systems.

4. Gift Vouchers

4.1 Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
4.2 Vouchers are non-refundable but can be transferred to another person with written permission.
4.3 Vouchers must be presented or referenced when booking your date.
4.4 Expired vouchers cannot be redeemed.

5. Cancellation Policy

5.1 Client Cancellations

  • More than 30 days before the booking: Full refund minus any transaction fees

  • 14–30 days before the booking: 50% refund

  • Less than 14 days before the booking: No refund

5.2 Weather & River Conditions
Fishing is an outdoor activity, and conditions can vary.

  • Trips go ahead unless conditions are unsafe (as determined by your guide).

  • If conditions make fishing impossible (e.g., severe flooding, storm warnings), we will:

    • Rebook your day at no cost, OR

    • Offer a credit valid for 12 months.

5.3 Guide Cancellations
If we must cancel (illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances), you will receive:

  • A full refund, or

  • A free rescheduled date.

We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, or any other expenses you have incurred.

6. Safety & Participation

6.1 By taking part in any activity, you accept that fishing involves natural risks, including water hazards, slippery ground, wading, hooks, weather, and wildlife.
6.2 Clients must follow all safety instructions issued by the guide.
6.3 We reserve the right to end an experience with no refund if a client behaves dangerously, refuses instruction, or is intoxicated.
6.4 Clients must disclose any medical conditions that may affect safety (e.g., mobility issues, epilepsy, heart conditions).
6.5 Lifejackets, wading belts, or other PPE must be worn when instructed.

7. Insurance

7.1 You Fish Scotland is fully insured for guiding and instruction.
7.2 All vehicles used for client transport are fully insured.
7.3 Clients are advised to hold their own personal travel or accident insurance.
7.4 We are not liable for loss or damage to personal belongings.

8. Equipment

8.1 We provide high-quality equipment for all services unless stated otherwise.
8.2 Clients are responsible for equipment loaned to them and may be charged for deliberate or negligent damage.
8.3 You may bring your own equipment, but you do so at your own risk.

9. Fishing Licences & Permits

9.1 It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they have the required fishing permissions or licences where required.
9.2 We assist with obtaining permits when part of a package.
9.3 Clients must comply with local angling regulations, catch-and-release rules, and conservation policies.

10. Transportation

10.1 Transport provided by You Fish Scotland is operated legally and safely.
10.2 Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
10.3 We are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, or circumstances outside our control.

11. Photography & Media

11.1 We may take photos or videos during experiences.
11.2 We will always ask permission before using your image for marketing, website content, or social media.
11.3 You may request removal of any image at any time.

12. Accessibility

12.1 We welcome all participants and do our best to accommodate individual needs.
12.2 Some locations (e.g., steep banks, remote hill lochs) may have limited accessibility.
12.3 Please contact us in advance to discuss any mobility or access requirements.

13. Liability

13.1 You participate in activities at your own risk.
13.2 We are not liable for:

  • Injury or accidents caused by unsafe behaviour

  • Failure to follow safety instructions

  • Weather-related disruptions

  • Injuries caused by natural terrain

  • Personal property loss or damage
    13.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or serious injury caused by our negligence, as required by UK law.

14. Website Use

14.1 All content on youfishscotland.com is protected by copyright.
14.2 You may not copy, distribute, or reuse content without written permission.
14.3 We are not responsible for any third-party links or external content.

15. Data Protection & Privacy

15.1 We comply with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and international data protection standards.
